With
so many SUV options to choose from, it becomes difficult to choose the right
one that suites your lifestyle. To help you make your choice we have listed
below three top SUVs.
Land
Rover Discovery 4
The
fourth entry of Discovery in the stables of Land Rover is one of their best
since 1998 when they introduced the 4x4. With its distinctive Land Rover looks,
the Discovery is altogether a new story when it comes to interior and what’s
under the hood. The 3.0 liter V6 engine comes in two power variants, a 208bhp
and a 252 bhp option. The drive of Discovery 4 is very calm and quiet; the high
driving position of the 4x4 ride gives a feeling of safety. The cabin space is
huge with lots of legroom even in the rear seat. The interior has a luxurious feel
and the seats are extremely comfortable for long and / or off road trips. One
of the unique additions to Discovery 4 is its dual view console at the center
that allows the passenger to watch DVD and at the same time the driver can
access the sat-nav system on the same screen. The standard equipment on the
Discovery 4 includes, parking sensors, leather seats, satellite navigation, and
automatic lights. The boot space is somewhat smaller compared to its other
competitors in the market but loading and accessing the objects is easy from
the cabin space.

Range Rover
The
new Range Rover is a nice mix of balance between good handling and smooth ride.
It comes in diesel and a V8 5.0 liter petrol engine options. The new aluminum
chassis and body of the new Range Rover coupled with the 288 bhp engine makes
it lighter than its predecessors and also very quick and responsive in straight
line speeds. Cornering is enjoyable thanks to its anti-roll system that works
impressively. Off-roading is equally enjoyable and comfortable thanks to the
terrain adaptability features and a high ground clearance. The driver can
easily change the cars set up from on-roader to an off-roader by pushing few
buttons on the dashboard. The onboard computer automatically adjusts to the
terrain giving a comfortable ride. The leg room at the back seat is an issue
with tall passengers and the rearmost seats are very small and mostly suitable
for children. The standard accessories include an 8-inch touchscreen, a
computer controlled terrain adapting system, cruise control, air suspension,
rear parking sensors, Bluetooth and automatic lights and wipers. The permanent
four wheel drive and the smooth responsive seven speed gear box means that your
off road is very comfortable. The lay out of the Range Rover is such that it
can easily wade through 900mm of water.
For - Luxurious interior, silent cabin, nice cornering.
Against - Cost of running, reliability, less boot space

Currently
in its third generation, the M Class has been inspiration to SUVs like the Q7
from Audi, Porsche Cayenne and the X5 from BMW. The new M-Class has three
variants SE the entry level car with a 202 bhp 2.1 liter 4 cylinder turbo
diesel engine, AMG Sport comes with a 255 bhp V6 turbodiesel, while the AMG
that tops the range is equipped with whooping 518 bhp 5.5 liter V8 twin-turbo.
All these variants are luxuriously equipped and accessories, superior fittings
and finishes, etc. On the road, the M-Class creates some visual impact as it
looks very intimidating. The M-Class also has an option of a panoramic glass
roof that not only adds to your driving experience but also lights up the
interior. The large 690 liters of room ensure a comfortable and relaxing
seating position, but is limited to only five people on board. The smooth seven
speed gearbox makes the permanent four-wheel drive easy to ride even on-road.
